Fifty five law enforcement officials and broadcasters came together Saturday, August 16 for AMBER ALERT Training.
Instructors from the University of South Carolina’s Newsplex staff conducted the four hour session at the Medical Arts Forum in downtown Birmingham.
Instructors Randy Covington and Hugh Munn, with technical assistance from Jordan Ellis, led the group through case studies from across the United States.
The effort helped attendees fully understand the criteria used in Alabama for declaring an AMBER ALERT and the process by which an alert is initiated.
The ABA’s EAS Chairman Larry Wilkins and Alabama’s AMBER ALERT Coordinator, Faye Hester of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Center for Missing Children were both in attendance.
