State Emergency Communications Committee

As a reminder, all Radio and Television stations along with cable television systems are required by the Federal Communications to follow the monitoring assignments set forth in the State EAS Plan.

The original Alabama State Plan was published in 1976 and the monitoring assignments were modified in 2002.  The present assignments are as follows:

Monitor source #1         Alabama Public Television Network

Monitor source #2         Alabama Digital Satellite Network

Audio from a monitor tuned to the nearest Alabama Public Television station should be connected to monitor source #1.  Attached is a list of all the APT stations in the state.

If your station is an affiliate of the Alabama or Auburn sports network, connect the audio from your ADSN receiver to monitor source #2.  Stations that are not Alabama or Auburn affiliates plus cable systems should monitor the nearest ADSN affiliate and connect that audio to monitor source # 2.  Attached is a current list of Alabama and Auburn affiliates.

Should you have any questions about the assignments, please email Larry Wilkins.

Each week stations should receive a RWT (required weekly test) on both inputs.  If you fail to receive this test please email Larry Wilkins with complete information including the week and monitor source that did not have RWT.

A RMT (required monthly test) will be sent on both sources on Thursday (first full week of the month).  Dates for these tests can be found on ABA web site or Montgomery SBE web site.
