MEMBERSHIP COSTS REMAIN LOW
Stations pay a very reasonable, low rate for membership in the association.
The fees have not been raised in several years.
ALTERNATIVE BROADCAST INSPECTION PROGRAM (ABIP)
ABIP provides great 3-year protection from an FCC walk-in inspection. It is
the equivalent of a very inexpensive insurance policy! (Many members have
stated that this program alone is worth the price of membership.)
CAREER FAIRS
ABA facilitates career fairs each year. By sponsoring, supporting and
participating, stations can earn a full FCC EEO credit against their PRONG 3
requirements.
ANNUAL SALES TRAINING
ABA offers annual sales training sessions in the fall. Help your staff kick
start the fourth quarter with a refresher course.
ABA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION
By supporting our scholarship program, you earn FCC EEO Prong 3 credit and
encourage bright young people to enter the broadcasting profession. Our goal
is to award 10 scholarships annually to deserving residents of Alabama,
enrolled in a course of study directed toward broadcasting.
ABBY AWARDS
Our ABBY Awards program provides annual recognition to both radio and TV
members for their outstanding performances in various categories of
competition. Our ABBY Awards dinner and presentation is fast becoming a
prestigious event in the industry each year.
ANNUAL CONVENTION
Our Annual Convention features workshops and sessions on a variety of topics
dedicated to the improved operation of a station. It typically incorporates
sales training, FCC updates, exchange of sales and promotion ideas, legal
updates, engineering issues, technology updates, and other subjects suggested
by members.
UPS SHIPPING DISCOUNTS
ABA members are eligible to enroll in a program that offers discounts on UPS shipping costs. ABA member enrollment (member login required)

LEGAL INFORMATION
ABA, through its Washington attorney, provides information pertaining to FCC
operating requirements, FCC issues and policy-making, and legislative issues on
both the state and national levels.
LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT
Legislative support is a key component of member services. It is provided
through our staff efforts both here in Alabama and in Washington. We maintain a
close relationship with the National Association of Broadcasters, working with
and through their staff, to be effective on the Hill in Washington regarding
broadcast issues.
POLITICAL INFORMATION
The ABA staff and our attorney provide important information on political
issues. Political rules and regulations are constantly changing and we
diligently provide timely information to our member stations.
EAS MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT
Our Association provides support to assist stations with meeting their
important FCC/EAS requirements.
al-ba.com
The ABA website is maintained 24/7, serving as a resource for industry news and
information. Find local and national stories of interest, links to technical
and legal services and ABA news and events. Post your job openings. Many
sections of the website are reserved for members only.
E-NEWS
ABA keeps our members informed on key issues, requirements and information
through our E-news, mailings and faxes.
A BASIC RESOURCE
The ABA is a basic resource of information. We attempt to provide prompt
answers to a wide range of questions. If we don't know the answer to a
question, we try to find the right source to accurately answer the question.
ABA is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is composed of Officers and
general board members, with a balance of both radio and TV members. All are
elected at our annual meeting. The Board meets four times a year. Members
serve on a voluntary basis.
