While attending Troy State University, he was given his first shot at announcing at a local \u201cmom and pop\u201d radio station.<\/p>\n<p>Soon thereafter, he began a fifteen-year career at WSLA-TV in Selma, which became WAKA-TV, Montgomery\/Selma in 1985. He worked as a New\/Sports Reporter\/Anchor, Operations Manager, Sales Manager and Station Manager. In 1990, he was General Manager of WTUN-WHBB, owned by GMX Communications and in 1991, formed BroadSouth Communications, Inc. to purchase WHBB-WDXX, which he continues to own and operate.<\/p>\n<p>Mike also owns several other businesses. In 1990, he formed Eagle-King, Inc. to manage Craig Golf Course. In 1994, he formed Southern Resource Management, Inc to develop and manage commercial and residential real estate and timberland and in 1998, Mike formed R &amp; L Investments, LLC to develop commercial<br \/>\nreal estate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmall market success is dependent upon community involvement and commitment,\u201d according to Mike.
