Come be WBHM\u2019s next multimedia news producer to help elevate stories on our website and social media channels. You\u2019ll work with reporters to create compelling digital content. You\u2019ll also be the newsroom\u2019s primary voice on social media. There will be opportunities to report online and on air, particularly in breaking news situations. We\u2019re also interested to hear your ideas. What can you bring to the table to push WBHM\u2019s journalism forward and reach new audiences?<\/p>\n
WBHM is part of the Gulf States Newsroom, a regional collaboration among stations in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana and NPR. Our reporters are also regularly on NPR News and other national programs and podcasts.<\/p>\n
Key Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Creates and manages WBHM\u2019s news content on social media<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Works with reporters to develop compelling digital content<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Edits web stories to ensure they are accurate, clear and follow editorial guidelines<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Reports news stories, particularly in breaking news situations<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Tracks performance of WBHM\u2019s online content<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Participate in station fundraising<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Other duties as assigned<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Journalism, English, Media, Communications or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. Minimum hiring rate must meet the most current FLSA guidelines for salary level and basis to remain exempt.<\/p>\n
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Excellent communication and organizational skills and demonstrated writing ability<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Familiarity with common social media platforms, tools and best practices for<\/p>\n
engagement<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Familiarity with NPR\u2019s Grove CMS<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Knowledge of AP style<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Ability to work independently and as part of a team<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Deep knowledge of Birmingham, Alabama and the South<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Multilingual candidates encouraged to apply<\/p>\n

Annual Salary Range: $45,395 to $63,000<\/p>\n
