\nWe are looking for a bold, decisive, digital first newsroom leader to run our nightside operation in Huntsville, Alabama, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic cities in the Southeast. \nAs Evening Executive Producer, you will be the driving force behind our most competitive newscasts, owning editorial decisions across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. You are the person in charge when the pressure is highest\u2014breaking news, severe weather, and major community events. You set the tone, raise the bar, and demand excellence.
\nThis role is the heartbeat of the nightside newsroom.
\nWhat You\u2019ll Do
\nOwn the Editorial Mission
\n\u2022 Lead all evening newscasts with a digital first, audience focused mindset
\n\u2022 Set the editorial agenda and aggressively pursue stories that matter and perform across platforms
\n\u2022 Ensure every newscast is urgent, relevant, and competitive
\nLead Breaking News & Severe Weather
\n\u2022 Serve as the primary editorial decision maker during breaking news and severe weather
\n\u2022 Make fast, confident calls under extreme deadline pressure
\n\u2022 Coordinate crews, producers, reporters, and digital teams for seamless, wall to wall coverage
\nDrive Multi Platform Content
\n\u2022 Push content beyond the broadcast\u2014social, web, mobile, and streaming are not optional
\n\u2022 Maximize reach, engagement, and impact through smart digital execution
\n\u2022 Collaborate closely with digital leaders to extend the life and visibility of nightside content
\nCoach, Challenge, and Develop Talent
\n\u2022 Lead, mentor, and hold nightside producers and reporters accountable
\n\u2022 Critique scripts, rundowns, and shows with a focus on strong writing, storytelling, and pacing
\n\u2022 Build a culture of urgency, innovation, and continuous improvement
\nMaintain High Standards
\n\u2022 Review scripts, teases, rundowns, and graphics for accuracy, fairness, ethics, and brand consistency
\n\u2022 Protect the station\u2019s credibility while pushing creative boundaries
\nOperational Leadership
\n\u2022 Manage nightside workflows, scheduling, and coverage plans
\n\u2022 Fill in on newscast production when necessary
\n\u2022 Conduct performance reviews and contribute to newsroom leadership initiatives
\nWhat We\u2019re Looking For
\n\u2022 Experience: Minimum 5 years in television news producing or newsroom operations; executive producing or management experience strongly preferred
\n\u2022 Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, make tough calls, and thrive in high pressure environments
\n\u2022 News Judgment: Sharp editorial instincts and a commitment to ethical, impactful journalism
\n\u2022 Digital First: Deep understanding of digital, social, and audience engagement strategies
\n\u2022 Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
\n\u2022 Schedule: Ability to work a true nightside schedule, including evenings and late nights
