WDHN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Dothan, AL is looking for a dynamic Photojournalist to join our news team. Responsibilities include working with reporters (or solo) and shooting stories for daily newscasts; editing video clips using nonlinear editing equipment; and staffing live shots on location when needed.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate will be a creative storyteller with strong editing skills. Candidates should have a degree in Journalism, Communications, or technical\/trade school training or on the job type training; experience in news photography is a plus. Applicant must possess a current, valid driver’s license and the ability to lift\/carry up to 50 pounds.<\/p>\n
Position Summary:
\nThe News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports.<\/p>\n
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
\n\u2022 Shoots video for news reports.
\n\u2022 Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements.
\n\u2022 Sets up, composes and executes video shots.
\n\u2022 Maintains video equipment.
\n\u2022 Edits video clips for television broadcasts and E-Media content.
\n\u2022 Operates live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations.
\n\u2022 Performs other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
Requirements & Skills:
\n\u2022 High school diploma.
\n\u2022 Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
\n\u2022 Minimum two years’ experience operating video recording equipment.
\n\u2022 Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
\n\u2022 Proficiency with video recording equipment.
\n\u2022 Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
\n\u2022 Flexibility to work any shift.<\/p>\n
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
\nThe News Photographer must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the News Photographer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.<\/p>\n
