The General Sales Manager oversees all aspects of the Sales Department, including staff management, advertising inventory throughout all channels, revenue goal setting and achievement, and budgeting. The General Sales Manager also has direct responsibility for national sales efforts.<\/p>\n
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
\n\u2022Provides leadership for the broadcast\/web sales teams.
\n\u2022Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees.
\n\u2022Develops and executes sales strategies which result in exceeding revenue targets in local, national, eMedia and new product revenue.
\n\u2022Drives new business development.
\n\u2022Manages inventory and revenue forecasting.
\n\u2022Manages recruitment and development of talented sales professionals.
\n\u2022Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures.
\n\u2022Resolves customer complaints regarding sales and service.
\n\u2022Plans and directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and service programs.
\n\u2022Determines inventory, pricing and discount rates.
\n\u2022Creates and reviews operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.
\n\u2022Directs the Accounts Receivable efforts of the Sales Department.
\n\u2022Performs other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
Requirements and Skills:
\n\u2022Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
\n\u2022Fluency in English.
\n\u2022Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
\n\u2022Minimum five years’ experience in media sales.
\n\u2022Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
\n\u2022Experience guiding, directing and motivating subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
\n\u2022Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
\n\u2022Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
\n\u2022Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.<\/p>\n
Physical Demands and Work Environment:<\/p>\n
The General Sales Manager must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
