Two-time EMMY Award winning News Anchor Sherri Jackson is a veteran journalist who has spent two decades telling the stories of the people of Central Alabama at CBS 42 News. Named “Best News Anchor” in Alabama five times by the Alabama Broadcasters Association, Sherri continues to excel as a journalist and as weekday Anchor for CBS 42 News at 5, 6 & 10 o’clock.
Sherri has received recognition for her work covering AIDS in the city of Birmingham. Her piece “AIDS from Alabama to Africa” received a national award from the National Association of Black Journalists. As a reporter she is dedicated to telling the stories that touch people’s lives in a series of special reports called “Faith in Action.” The series launched after Sherri took a mission trip to Arusha, Tanzania and split from her mission team to cover the story of a missionary doctor in Bomet, Kenya who says she was miraculously healed after testing positive for HIV. The story of what happened at Tenwek Hospital became Sherri’s first Faith in Action story in 2007.
Family drives Sherri’s passion to give back to the community. That’s why much of her community involvement centers on supporting agencies that support families. She has served on several boards with non-profit organizations that serve women and children.
