David Woods (born 1957) is a second generation broadcaster who worked with his father, Charles Woods, at stations in California, Texas and Louisiana. He left his father’s company in 1985 and put together a group of investors from Texas and purchased WCOV-TV in Montgomery, AL and became a charter affiliate of the Fox Network.

David served as President of the Alabama Broadcasters Association, 2002 -2003. During his tenure as President, he was instrumental in the development of the Amber Alert Program for the State of Alabama. David was named Broadcaster of the Year in 2006.

David’s partnership with law enforcement doesn’t end there. His work, assisting law enforcement officials in their efforts to protect our community and keep criminals off the street, has led to numerous awards. In May of 2000, he was awarded the City of Montgomery Citizen Service Medal by the Chief of Police for his support of the Montgomery Police Department. In 2005, District Attorney Ellen Brooks awarded David for his support of Crime Victims Rights. Governor Bob Riley and Attorney General Troy King recognized David for his efforts in supporting public safety officers. Since 2000, David has gone on several church mission trips visiting Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Honduras. Doing volunteer work is something that energizes David, and he feels spending time with those in need makes a lasting impact. On his last trip, he spent a week in Honduras with Forgotten Children Ministries an orphanage for boys. David was born and raised in Dothan, and in 1983 he married his sweetheart Donna Scarborough.

Together they have 3 children: David, Drew, and Dana. They are very active in St. James Methodist Church of Montgomery where David has served on the board for seven years. He has also a Sunday School teacher.
