Arnold Hornbuckle

Arnold Hornbuckle (1927-2012), a native of Huntsville, Alabama began his career in music in 1952 when he founded a retail music business, Hornbuckle’s Record Shop.

Mr. Hornbuckle launched WAHR in 1959 with business partner Bill “Buckshot” Lane. As such, it was one of the area’s first FM radio stations. The call letters stood for ‘With Arnold Hornbuckle’s Records. In 1968, he founded the Home Entertainment Corporation doing business as Hornbuckle Magnavox Center. After over 40 years serving the Tennessee Valley, Mr. Hornbuckle and Mr. Lane retired, selling WAHR in July 1999.

Hornbuckle has had one employee who remained with him 50 years, Ms. Freida Jordan. He now owns and manages commercial real estate and works on his farm. He has two sons, Ronnie Hornbuckle of Huntsville and Guy Hornbuckle of Tupelo, Mississippi.
