David DuBose

David DuBose has 30 years of broadcast management experience with Cox Radio, Inc., H&P Radio, Heftel Broadcasting Company and WDBB-TV, Inc.

In the early 1980s, DuBose led an investment group to purchase WDBB-TV17. The team delivered improved ratings and cash flow before selling the station for a 9+Xreturn in less than twenty-four months.

He then managed Heftel in Dallas, Texas, a 6 station cluster, improving revenues and ratings performance by turning around flagship station, KESS-AM, raising the 12+sharefrom a 0.9 to a 3.0.

David returned home from Dallas to launch WBHJ95.7 JAMZ-FM and WBHK 98.7 KISS-FM. Both startup stations quickly captured top ranked status 18-34, 25-54 and 12+. Stations were sold to Cox Radio for a significant return on investment. He continued to run the stations for Cox.

In 1999, David was Nominated by Radio & Records Magazine General Manager of the Year for Urban Radio.

Under his leadership, WBHK 987 KISS-FM has ranked #1 or #2 in the Annual Miller Kaplan Report since 2002 and WBHJ 95.7 JAMZ ranked #1 with Adults 18-34 for 12 consecutive years.

Just a few short years ago, David acquired Top Morning Show talent “Rick&Bubba” and assisted in growing the nationwide network from 20 stations to more than 60 affiliates. After the show landed at WZZK-FM, morning drive grew from a #10 Ranking to #1 Adults 25- 54, and Adults 12+.

In 2010, Radio Inc. Magazine named him one of the “Best Managers in Radio.”

In late November 2011, he was promoted from General Manager to Market Manager for Cox Media Group in Birmingham immediately began working on integration of the two Cox Units, initiated a cost savings plan and restored WZZK to its highest ratings performance since 2007. In the spring 2012 book, DuBose delivered #1, #2, #3 and #5 ranked Stations.

David has extensive experience in facilities and technical upgrades. He has developed and managed upgrades for Cox Radio stations WPYO Orlando, WBHJ Birmingham, WNCB Birmingham, WBHK Birmingham, WJMZ Greenville, WALR-FM Atlanta, and WBTS Atlanta.

David is a four term member of the Birmingham Business Alliance Board of Trustees.
