Demonstrated ability to perform live, on-scene reporting making use of taped inserts and live interviews. Complete daily videotaped stories to deadline. Establish news contacts/sources in coverage area. Generate story ideas. Coordinate ideas for series/special reports. Interview news sources to obtain material for reports. Produce high quality news video and sound with the ability to edit the material for broadcast. Care for and maintain all assigned equipment including basic vehicle care. Safely and courteously operate station news vehicle at all times. Respond quickly and enthusiastically to all news assignments. Utilize social media such as Facebook and Twitter to post stories and generate interaction with our audience. Write content for ABC 33/40 website.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. College degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or equivalent work experience.

2. Minimum of 2 years TV news reporting experience preferred. Background in news photography preferred..

3. Able to maneuver heavy equipment successfully in the field, particularly on sites with difficult accessibility.

4. Geographic knowledge of coverage area.

5. Strong packaging, writing and communication skills.

6. Able to attend work regularly.

7. Available to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.

8. Possession of a valid Driver’s License and able to operate company vehicles in a safe manner.

9. Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including:
•Ability to understand and orally communicate in English;
•Ability to read computer monitor information (words and data);
•Ability to hear detailed spoken communication;
•Ability to remain sedentary;
•Ability to perform manual dexterity tasks with hands, fingers;
•Ability to analyze data, concentrate, reason, and write; and

Master Control Operator

WBRC-TV is looking for a Master Control Operator. Job Responsibilities: monitor, operate and troubleshoot on-air SD and HD video and audio signals, automation systems, and graphic insertions for multiple channels, monitor and maintain daily playlists for multiple channels, interact with and provide service to the marketing and traffic departments of multiple stations, ability to function as an Assistant Director for live shows and live cut-ins, reporting of shift status, technical discrepancies and all operational problems/issues, additional duties as needed and assigned by supervisor, and willing to learn new technologies.

Qualifications/Experience Required: minimum two years previous network/master control experience, experience switching of live events is preferred, experience in a server-based broadcast operation, ability to perform basic troubleshooting of both standard and high-definition broadcast video and audio signals, knowledge of Harris and Crispin automation and video file server technology a plus, must be able to work under pressure and as a member of a team, willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, excellent interpersonal skills, operate SD & HD: digital master control switcher and routing switchers, VTRs, waveform monitor, and vectorscope, and must have experience and understanding of signal chains, video & audio levels and be able to troubleshoot as necessary.

Mississippi Public Broadcasting is seeking an experienced accountant to be the primary purchasing agent for the agency. The successful candidate will display understanding of state purchasing laws and regulations. Ideal candidate will have experience in SAAS and Merlin and will have strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
