The University of Alabama seeks a Master Control Operator for WVUA 23. As Master Control Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring that all live news, live events, nationally syndicated and locally produced programming plays on the air. In consultation with the engineering and IT staff, you will manage computer operating systems, automation systems, video editing systems, routing switchers, remote transmission, and receiving equipment. Perform daily transmitter checks, operate the Emergency Alert System in accordance with FCC regulations, and ensure the quality and integrity of all commercials and paid programming before they play to air. Monitor e-mails for updates, program changes, related information, and initiate necessary corrective procedures. Monitor satellite program services and serve as network coordinator in the event of technical problems at the source or in local control room. Maintain and update discrepancy logs in a timely fashion. You may be required to work extended hours, including weekend, evening and holidays as needed. WVUA 23 is a commercial TV station located in a brand new $17 million dollar state- of-the- art digital media center. U of A is one of only two universities in the nation with a commercial TV station. We are also home to a nationally recognized public radio station, and a public TV production unit.
