Technical Media Director – WTVY, Dothan

WTVY-TV News 4, the CBS affiliate and dominant number one station in Southeast Alabama is looking for a Technical Media Director (formerly titled Production Assistant).

The position has multiple roles. This person will direct one of our newscasts. WTVY is automated, therefore the director is required to code a newscast, do any pre-production work needed (building graphics) for the show that he/she is working on.

The second part of the job will be running Master Control, helping with segmenting syndicated show/commercials to air at a later time, running live commercial breaks and learning our Traffic Management duties.

This person will need to be detail oriented, a self-starter, able to work well under deadlines and work well with others. Good written and verbal communication skills required, as is vast computer knowledge and a general understanding of technology. Experience with Ross OverDrive, VizRT, and Adobe creative suite is a plus, as is experience in a broadcast news environment.

IMC Operations Manager – Spring Hill College, Mobile

Position: Integrated Multimedia Center (IMC) Operations Manager
Division of Communication, Fine and Performing Arts

Summary Description: Serves as live TV production, operations and facility manager within SHC’s Integrated Multimedia Center, a laboratory facility that supports academic programs within the Division of Communication, Fine and Performing Arts and offers opportunities for students to participate in multi-media productions for College and community clients. The IMC Operations Manager reports to Chair, Division of Communication, Fine & Performing Arts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
1. Maintains IMC TV production studio, including sets and lighting, allowing, e.g., students productive access to the facility as required by Division faculty.
2. Provides technical instruction for students, including equipment, cameras, lighting, and software as necessary or as requested.
3. Serves as production lead for multi-media productions for College or community organizations, both on site and in the IMC.
4. Coordinates use of IMC and its equipment by students in courses, faculty, staff, and volunteers, including scheduling.
5. Coordinates programming of the Spring Hill College cable television channel that is reserved for IMC use.
6. Oversees and orders equipment required for Communication, Fine and Performing Arts students, including, but not limited to:
a. IMC inventory, including loaner DSLR cameras for student use
b. BYOD initiative
c. Systemic equipment kit for students
7. Receives and coordinates requests from Spring Hill College and community organizations for use of IMC and for student-staffed multi-media productions.
8. Manages the IMC’s Livestream account.
9. Oversees security protocols for the IMC.
10. Reads journals and books and makes use of, e.g., applicable webinars or other online presentations to keep abreast of new software and hardware product development.
11. Performs other duties as necessary or as requested.

Marginal Functions
1. Fosters a spirit of collaboration and cooperation within the multimedia lab space and campus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Willingness and ability to work within the mission and educational principles of a Catholic, Jesuit college.
2. Knowledge of Blackmagic switcher.
3. Knowledge of and experience installing, operating and maintaining live broadcast equipment.
4. Knowledge of the following software: Final Cut Pro, AVID, Adobe Creative Suite or demonstrated aptitude with similar software.
5. Knowledge of internet broadcasting requirements.
6. Knowledge of program automation software.
7. Ability to lead students to complete projects.
8. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
9. Ability to transport self to various locations on campus or within the community.

Qualification Standards:
Education: Master’s preferred; at least 5 years of full-time, relevant experience may be considered in exceptional situations in lieu of higher education.
Experience: Three years of experience in a TV station or professional multimedia company. Web-casting experience.
