Experience:
As a Meteorologist, you will be responsible for the content of the weather cast on-air and on our digital platforms. You will issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events. You must be able to utilize social media daily including during severe weather, as well as write weather stories. Duties include forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weather casts- which tell a story and connect with viewers, developing content and graphics for on-air, web and social media, making public appearances on behalf of the station, working with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations, doing live shots and reporting from community events and in breaking news.

Requirements:
•Great storytelling that provides viewer value
•Must be socially savvy
•Knowledge of Weather Central a plus

Experience:
•Previous on-air experience presenting weather and news information is required

WRGX, Dothan’s NBC affiliate, has an immediate opening for an anchor/producer. Desired candidate will serve as a co-anchor of two 30-minute newscasts on WRGX. This position also requires producing one of the two 30-minute shows each weekday. Other fill-in work may be required, as assigned by the News Director.

Primary responsibilities as anchor/producer include:

-Co-anchor WRGX First News at 4 & WRGX News at 5:30

Principal Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Lead a 3-person department
Anchor three shows per day over two separate networks; WTVY (CBS) and WRGX (NBC)
Coordinate with news department to cover most important stories of the day, sometimes with team coverage
Producing and co-hosting our award-winning 35-minute H.S. Football program, Friday Night Football
Producing and hosting our 20-minute college football program, GameNight, on Saturday nights
Strong reporting skills
Camera presence & strong vocal skills are imperative
Strong writing, shooting, editing and live skills is essential for this position
Make connections within the community to generate exclusive sports content & consistent local product on all platforms
Excellent social media skills – Facebook and Twitter are a huge part of our daily routine
Ability to produce on air and online – our web component is a vital connection with our viewers
Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
Knowledge of Panasonic P2 cameras, Edius, Sonic Foundry Vegas and INews is also a plus

B. A. or B. S. from an accredited college or university. 5 years or more

station. Preference of that management experience as a News Director. First hand
