Founded in 1955, CPT&R is an award-winning television and radio production center whose portfolio includes series, specials and corporate videos on a wide range of topics, from sports to arts and culture to health and business. Located in a new 40,000 square foot state- of-the- art digital media center in Bryant Denny Stadium, CPT&R is a teaching laboratory for the College of Communication and Information Sciences, allowing professionals to engage students in meaningful, real-world experience.

The Producer/Director will join a motivated team of creative professionals who wear many hats and enjoy collaboration across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong storytelling skills, a curiosity about a wide range of topics, and an interest in mentoring students. The candidate should have experience with single camera remote production, from field production to final editing. Experience with Adobe’s Creative Cloud editing and DSLR video is highly desired.

Assistant Broadcast Directors – Alabama Public Television

Alabama Public Television’s is seeking two full-time APT Assistant Broadcast Directors to handle the operation and maintenance of technical facilities. One position is located in Jefferson County (Birmingham) and the other position is located in Montgomery County (Montgomery). APT operates 9 transmitter sites with 18 transmitters, over 2200 miles of two-way digital microwave and a satellite distribution network.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited junior college or technical school with a two-year degree in Electronics, RF (Radio Frequency) Broadcasting, Telecommunications, or a related field. Five (5) years’ experience in maintenance, operation and repair of broadcast equipment. A valid Alabama Driver License is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Supervising technical broadcast equipment functions and day-to-day operations and maintenance of designated facilities throughout the state, maintenance and repair of broadcast equipment and automated control systems, examination & interpretation of technical data for installation, repair and/or modification of equipment, analysis & diagnosis of equipment problems and working toward appropriate timely resolutions, assist in writing equipment and service specifications for use in bidding process and serves as liaison for APT in consulting manufacturers regarding equipment problems and/or operating procedures.

This is a State of Alabama Merit System position. Class Code: 30651, Pay Grade: 77. Salary Range: ($45,501.60 – $69,098.40). To apply, use an Application for Examination form. WTVY, Dothan’s #1 rated news station has an immediate opening for a multimedia journalist/producer. Desired candidate will serve as a reporter three days per week, covering an assigned beat area. This position also requires producing and boothing duties for weekend evening newscasts.

Primary responsibilities as a multimedia journalist include:
Strong writing, shooting & editing skills.
Shoot, write and deliver new stories to run in programming on two networks.
Strong live skills are a plus.
Knowledge of Panasonic P2 camera, Edius, iNews is also a plus.
Ability to lift 50 pounds of camera/editing equipment.
Other duties as assigned by News Director.

Primary responsibilities as a producer include:
Produce and booth four shows per weekend on WTVY (CBS)
Outstanding journalism skills and broadcast judgment.
Strong writing, editing and research skills.
Excellent time management skills is essential.
Experience with iNews and Edius is a plus.

On Air Meteorologist/Digital Media Specialist – WAKA/WNCF, Montgomery

WAKA-TV, CBS 8/WNCF-TV, ABC Montgomery is looking for a multi-talented On Air Meteorologist who will work in the weather department as well as handle news web site and social media responsibilities.

Candidate will be responsible for creating weather graphics, organizing school visits and “fill-in” on air when other meteorologists are off. This person will also be a key player during severe weather.

As a Digital Media Specialist, candidate will produce day to day web site news content, such as breaking and developing news. This person must take lead role in social media by developing news for twitter, on Facebook and assisting the desk with text alerts.

On Air Experience as Meteorologist preferred.
Degree in Meteorology required. Strong digital and social media background through education or work related preferred.
