We are looking for a creative, visionary producer with a proven track record. We want someone who is a fierce competitor and likes to win.

In addition to the standard duties of producers in the industry (write, gather information, select stories, decide order and treatment of stories), the producers of the WHNT NEWS 19 newsroom are responsible for developing an overall style and identity for their assigned newscast with a keen focus on building the station’s brand, “Taking Action, Getting Results.”

We’re not looking for a show stacker, we’re looking for a craftsperson who will bring a daily vision for their newscasts to the newsroom and a clear plan on how they’re going to deliver on that vision.

We are looking for someone to create compelling on brand promotional messages that reflect our station’s commitment to news and entertainment programming. This position will be responsible for producing and editing daily news topical promos, station image campaigns and public service announcements. Work closely with Digital and Creative Services teams to develop and execute brand-building content across social and mobile platforms.

Skills: (Essential and Preferred) Writing for television, non-linear editing, motion graphic design, lighting, digital cinematography, creative direction, location scouting, brainstorming, directing talent, project management, collaboration and a willingness to learn. Applicant must also work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and be able to collaborate with the newsroom and other departments. Excellent communication skills are a must as well as the ability to management multiple projects and deadlines at once.

Experience: (Essential and Preferred) Minimum three years of experience as a producer is preferred. Expert non-linear editing skills, digital cinematography, motion graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite programs are required; experience with Edius Non-linear workstations is a plus. The ideal candidate would understand the broadcast, social, digital and mobile space with ways to use it to engage the audience. A college degree in multimedia production re related field is preferred.

Engineering Notebook: Special 2 day seminar for radio engineers

ABA Engineering Academy offers Advanced Radio Broadcast Engineering Seminar

Broadcast engineers have only one responsibility at their station….(pause till laughter fades).

That responsibility is to take the product that is presented to them by the programming department and deliver it to the station’s customers (listeners) with the minimum of degradation possible, and maybe along the way improve it somewhat. Sometimes that can be a rather daunting task, but modern day broadcast equipment is making is easier to accomplish.

The ABA Engineering Academy is hosting a special two day seminar which will offer an in depth review of the technology used in today’s radio broadcast operations. We will look under the hood of digital audio, processors, digital audio workstations, automation systems, AM antenna systems and modern day solid state transmitters.

Several guest presenters will be on hand to fill in the gaps on these items including Stu Graham a well know technical consultant with GrahamBrock Inc, Jeff Welton Nautel who has over 16 years as a Nautel Customer Service Technician.

This two day seminar is offered at no charge and will be held at the ABA Training Center in Hoover AL on Monday and Tuesday March 9th & 10th.

Attendees will also be able to take the SBE Certified Broadcast Radio Engineer (CBRE) exam at the end of the class. There is a charge for the exam. Taking the exam is not required to attend the seminar.

With technology changing at such a rapid rate radio engineers are encourage not to miss out on this excellent opportunity to continue their education in the broadcast engineering field.

Photojournalist – WDHN, Dothan

WDHN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Dothan, AL is looking for a dynamic Photojournalist to join our news team. Responsibilities include working with reporters (or solo) and shooting stories for daily newscasts; editing video clips using nonlinear editing equipment; and staffing live shots on location when needed.

The ideal candidate will be a creative storyteller with strong editing skills. Candidates should have a degree in Journalism, Communications, or technical/trade school training or on the job type training; experience in news photography is a plus. Applicant must possess a current, valid driver’s license and the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Position Summary:
The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports.
