Meteorologist/Multimedia Journalist – WTVY, Dothan

WTVY, Dothan’s #1 rated news station has an immediate opening for a meteorologist/multimedia journalist. Desired candidate will serve as the weekend meteorologist, anchoring five shows per weekend. Desired candidate will also serve as a multimedia journalist three days per week. Fill-in work as a meteorologist is also required.

Primary responsibilities as a meteorologist include:
Accurately and quickly forecast weather conditions.
Work with our team of meteorologists to generate weather content for broadcasts, websites and social media.
Create graphics to show weather information in a clear, concise and interesting way for broadcast on three different channels.
Experience with equipment, software and graphic systems required to create an accurate and entertaining presentation. Knowledge of WSI TruVu and Baron Vipir systems are a plus.
Deliver forecasts from studio or live on location.
Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Flexibility to work any hours when required.
Excellent writing and on-air delivery skills.
Strong graphic skills and ability to think creatively under deadline pressure.
Other duties as assigned by the News Director.

Primary responsibilities as a multimedia journalist include:
Strong writing, shooting & editing skills.
Shoot, write and deliver new stories to run in programming on three networks.
Strong live skills are a plus.
Knowledge of Panasonic P2 camera, Edius, iNews is also a plus.

WTVY covers counties in three states Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Our primary DMA is in Southeast Alabama. WTVY (CBS) is the established market leader in Dothan. We have a live truck, a satellite truck, multiple backpack live units and three bureaus and we produce more than 29 hours of live news per week. Work on our sister stations, WRGX (NBC) & CW will also be required.

A four-year degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science degree is absolutely mandatory. One year of commercial or university experience preferred. Send resume to the attention of:
