The Alabama News Network made up of CBS8, ABC Montgomery, CW Montgomery, MeTV and Heartland produces 30 hours of Local News a week. We’re searching for a News Director that can build off of a solid foundation of experienced News Journalists and improved ratings to lead us to the next level in our 6 million dollar state of the art News facility.

This is a Department Head position and will report directly to the VP/General Manager.

Responsibilities:
– Supervise News Department and be responsible for overall content of the News across all platforms: on air, web, social media and mobile.
-Work with other Departments to ensure a quality News product and branding message.
-Create a culture of creativity, innovation, teamwork and high ethical standards.
-Hire, develop and coach up and coming young talent.
-Must be a strategic planner and communicator with attention to community.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism or Communications preferred with News Management experience.

Diverse knowledge of journalism, management, marketing, television production and digital media.
