POSITION SUMMARY:

Demonstrated ability to perform live, on-scene reporting making use of taped inserts and live interviews. Complete daily videotaped stories to deadline. Establish news contacts/sources in coverage area. Generate story ideas. Coordinate ideas for series/special reports. Interview news sources to obtain material for reports. Coordinate field shooting with photographers, making suggestions in a collaborative manner to ensure thorough visual coverage of stories. Prepare shot schedules, including interviews and locations. Research stories to ensure complete, accurate, and fair coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of 2 years TV news reporting experience preferred. Anchoring experience is an asset.

2. Strong packaging, writing and communication skills.

3. Knowledge of coverage area.

4. College degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or equivalent work experience.

5. Able to attend work regularly.

6. Available to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.

7. Possession of a valid Driver’s License and able to operate company vehicles in a safe manner.

8. Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including:
•Ability to understand and orally communicate in English;
•Ability to read computer monitor information (words and data);
•Ability to hear detailed spoken communication;
•Ability to remain sedentary;
•Ability to perform manual dexterity tasks with hands, fingers;
•Ability to analyze data, concentrate, reason, and write; and
•Ability to perform under emotional stress.
