WHNT News 19 is looking for Topical Producer who is part news junkie, tease artist, and editing genius. The right candidate does their best work under tight deadlines, thinks like a marketer and is a writing rock star. Our Topical Producer is responsible for writing, shooting and editing well-branded teases for afternoon and late newscasts. Fortunately for you, we’re in the central time zone.
WHNT NEWS 19 is a CBS affiliate in Huntsville, Alabama. It’s a competitive television market with the added bonus of being rated as one of the best places to live.
Our station brand is “Taking Action. Getting Results.” We’re an award winning team dedicated to providing great content on all platforms for our viewers and users.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Attend daily editorial meetings with the news team
•Write, shoot and edit topical promos and in-show teases for 5, 6, 6:30, 9, and 10:00PM newscasts.
•Incorporate interactive and social media with branding efforts
•Tag episodic promos
•Review Public Service Announcements
•Serve as station brand ambassador for special events
•Some commercial production
•Assist news team during breaking news, special events, and weather coverage
QUALIFICATIONS:
•A minimum of 1 year experience in promotion, advertising, marketing or television newsroom
•Understand marketing and branding principals
•Superior tease and copywriting skills
•Proficiency with Final Cut Pro & Adobe Creative Cloud
•Organized and able to meet tight deadlines
•Strong videographer who understands lighting principals
•A team player who can work independently
•Comfortably communicate with a wide range of personalities
•Understand and use social media and other forms of content delivery
•Possess the ability and willingness to learn new skills and technology
•Willing to work a flexible schedule that could include late night, early morning or weekend hours
•Accept other duties as assigned
•Have valid driver’s license
•Pass a drug test
Education Requirements:
A college degree in a related field is helpful but not required.
