2018 Conference – First Informers Project

Dr. Chandra Clark of the University of Alabama will be our Friday, Aug 10 luncheon speaker.  She will show two short videos and talk about the NAB/BEA’s project – First Informers.

Dr. Chandra Clark

Chandra Clark is an assistant professor at The University of Alabama in the department of Journalism and Creative Media. She teaches electronic news, producing, and digital news classes.  She has produced a series of award winning videos in partnership with the National Association of Broadcasters and the Broadcast Education Association relating to how broadcast television and radio played a role in the deadly April and May 2011 tornadoes in Tuscaloosa and Joplin plus Hurricane Sandy’s devastation along the East Coast.

Chandra graduated from Walker College in Jasper, and then transferred to The University of Alabama where she graduated with her bachelors, masters, and doctorate from UA while continuing to work in the broadcast industry.

Chandra’s dissertation which she titled “Fake News” in 2009 has become a popular research topic since November 8, 2016.
