Come work in a subtropical climate paradise that has everything a weather forecaster could want. We have an immediate opening, and we’re looking for someone who’s available right now–or in the very near future. Covering the Alabama, Georgia, Florida area, you might be tracking tornadoes one week and a hurricane the next. We have a severe storm season, a tornado season, a hurricane season, and even winter storms. You’ll be part of a team this is often live for hours on end when severe weather approaches and while it hits the area. This is a great location to work–and live. You’re just a little over an hour from the world’s most beautiful beaches along the Gulf Coast, and a very short drive to Atlanta, Birmingham, Pensacola and other major Sunbelt cities.

You’ll forecast weather on weekends and serve as backup for our weekday morning meteorologist and/or evening meteorologist, and assist with coverage on severe weather days. On days when you’re not doing weather, you’ll report for the news department. If you haven’t been trained in shooting and editing video and newswriting, we’ll teach, train and coach you so you’re confident before you head out on any stories.

The Meteorologist forecast weather conditions and produces and anchors weather reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.

Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms, including live weather reports.
Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for accuracy, journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers weather stories in a clear and concise manner.
Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content.
Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
Works closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage.
Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Writes web stories detailing the local forecast.
Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.
Reports news stories for broadcast and digital when not covering a weather shift.

Requirements & Skills:

WKRG-TV News 5, the Nexstar CBS television affiliate in Mobile/Pensacola, seeks a Digital Content Producer to join our news team.
The Digital Content Producer is a key member of our digital team. This role involves live and edited video production and distribution using various platforms and techniques.
The DCP also authors and curates accurate, high-performing stories and posts (including elements of text / photos / graphics / etc.), gathers information for news reports, and crafts engaging website pages & other digital products.
The DCP utilizes metrics and real-time data to maximize hourly audience and build long-term brand loyalty.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Produce digital original video news stories, including various versions for social media

• Train, mentor, and support station staff with video projects and creative digital storytelling

DIGITAL CONTENT PRODUCER – WSFA

WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, AL, is looking for a Digital Content Producer to join our digital team. The Digital Producer is responsible for producing news content for the station’s digital platforms, including the website and social media accounts. This includes writing and reporting breaking and developing news stories, and generating high-quality news, sports, and entertainment content. This position may include weekend shifts.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

– The producer will drive all things digital – working closely with the newsroom team, specifically producers, reporters and anchors.
– Qualified applicants will have experience generating written news content using AP Style for digital platforms.
– Experience with video editing, Photoshop, and social media is strongly preferred, as is a comfort with technical requirements such as setting up video livestreams and other back-end systems.
– We’re looking for an enthusiastic producer with strong news judgment and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once without much supervision.
– Candidates must be able to execute and maintain news strategies and goals to provide competitive, 24/7 local digital content coverage for our news consumers.

Qualifications/Requirements:

– The successful applicant will be part of a five-person digital-specific team and must have at least one year of experience working with digital and social media for a news organization
– Need to be extremely well-versed in news writing, using a content management system, and the mechanics of Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat.
– Candidates must be a great communicator, great working with people, organized, and have excellent writing skills.
– College degree required – Journalism/English degrees are preferred.
