Chief Meteorologist – WAAY

WAAY – TV, the ABC affiliate in Huntsville, Alabama has an immediate opening for a Chief Meteorologist to lead our 4 person weather team. Weather is the #1 concern for the audience in the Huntsville, Alabama market and this audience is very weather savvy. WAAY – TV is looking for someone who has a passion for weather, on and off the air. Candidates must be an expert on tornado forecasting and tracking, able to accurately forecast all types of extreme weather conditions and present compelling, educational weather presentations to our viewers, via TV, the web and all social media outlets. Must be able to work flexible hours and work well in a high stress environment. The Chief Meteorologist is expected to be a leader at the station and in WAAY’s 11 county DMA. Public appearances and community goodwill are essential elements to this position. A minimum of 3 years experience as a broadcast meteorologist, a degree in Meteorology or other like science, AMS and/or NWS seal are required.

WTVY, Dothan’s #1 rated news station has an immediate opening for a full-time anchor/producer.
We are looking for someone to step into a leadership role in our newsroom, mentoring young reporters, working with producers and helping WTVY build on its long-standing tradition as the dominant market leader for local news.
Primary responsibilities include co-anchoring and producing our newscasts on our NBC sister station, WRGX. Some reporting will also be required with this position. Strong writing, shooting and editing skills is essential for this position. Knowledge of Panasonic P2 cameras, Edius, Sonic Foundry Vegas and INews is also a plus. WTVY covers counties in three states; Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Our primary DMA is in Southeast Alabama.
WTVY is the established market leader in Dothan. We have a live truck, a satellite truck, multiple backpack live units and three bureaus. WTVY produces more than 28 hours of live news per week. At least one year of commercial experience is required.
