NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER – WBMA/WJSU/WCFT

WBMA/WJSU/WCFT is looking for a creative full-time News Photographer! We are seeking someone who can see beyond the lens and bring back compelling stories. The candidate should have 2 years of ENG experience with a network affiliate news organization. You will cover day to day general, in-depth features and investigative assignments. We are shooting full high definition (HD) on media cards and editing on desktops and laptops. You should have strong editing skills in non-linear edit systems, possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude. A passion for story telling is absolutely essential in this position.

Requirements and Qualifications:

At least 2 years of shooting experience and technical knowledge of editing and photo equipment
Team-player who can produce good stories under tight deadlines
Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and be able to operate ENG news vehicles
Ability to edit and shoot general assignment stories, lives shots and natural sound packages
Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis

BROADCAST TELEVISION ENGINEER – WBMA, WTTO, WABM

WBMA, WTTO and WABM – Birmingham, AL have an excellent opportunity for a Broadcast Television Engineer. This position is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and support of studio broadcast systems to ensure reliable, high-quality on-air and digital productions. This role supports live and recorded programming by maintaining technical infrastructure, troubleshooting issues in real time, and collaborating with Engineering, Operations, IT, and Production teams to meet business and operational objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Install, configure, operate, maintain, and repair television studio production and broadcast systems, including cameras, video switchers, audio consoles, routing systems, intercoms, monitoring, and lighting control equipment
Provide technical support for live and recorded studio productions, ensuring system readiness and on-air reliability
Monitor studio systems during broadcasts to identify and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively
Perform preventative maintenance and routine system testing to minimize service disruptions
Assist with engineering projects including system upgrades, technology refreshes, and new equipment deployments
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, signal flow diagrams, and maintenance records
Partner with Production, News, Operations, and IT teams to support operational requirements and workflow efficiencies
Ensure compliance with FCC regulations, company engineering standards, and workplace safety policies
Support training efforts for operational and production staff as needed
Assist with transmitter maintenance
Participate in on-call rotations and provide support during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Required Skills and Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in television broadcast engineering or studio technical operations
Working knowledge of broadcast video and audio systems, including SDI and IP-based workflows
Experience supporting studio production equipment such as cameras, switchers, audio consoles, and intercom systems
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a live production environment
Understanding of signal flow, RF fundamentals, and basic networking concepts
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with IP-based broadcast technologies (e.g., SMPTE ST 2110, NDI, AES67)
Familiarity with newsroom systems, automation, and production workflows
Experience supporting live news, sports, or special event productions
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) and/or SBE certification (CBTE, CBT, or equivalent)
Knowledge of broadcast facility design and systems integration
Physical and Work Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in technical environments including equipment racks, control rooms, and elevated work areas
Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER – WAFF

JOB SUMMARY: WAFF is seeking a morning news Executive Producer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an effective leader able to inspire and coach a team of journalists. The EP will be an aggressive breaking news leader with creative problem solving abilities. They will be a member of the news management team and will work to develop and execute key newsroom initiatives.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with producers, directors, reporters and anchors for the best showcasing, live shots and quality content in the market.
• Teach staff to write with clear, conversational and concise writing.
• Work with reporters to plan story ideas ahead, to help build local content.
• Assist management team with planning of future projects, elections, and other special events.
• Must be assertive with breaking news and weather coverage.
Requirments:
• 3 years of experience as a producer in a top 50 market; or previous Executive Producer experience preferred.
• BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background.
• Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.

DIGITAL CONTENT PRODUCER – WAAY

MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST/REPORTER – WSFA

WSFA 12 News is looking for an experienced Multimedia Journalist/Reporter to join our award-winning team in Montgomery. The candidate will be responsible for covering local news stories for our newscasts, website, and news app. Candidate must be a team player, able to juggle multiple deadlines, and have experience covering breaking news. We are looking for someone who can shoot, write, and edit for TV and all digital platforms. This position will include working weekends and some limited anchoring.

Operates live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations

Requirements & Skills:

Minimum two years’ experience operating video recording equipment (More for larger markets and less for smaller markets)
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
